Amber Cronin is an Australian creative producer and maker with an interest in audience focused creative direction. She works across performance, dance and the visual arts with a particular interest in interdisciplinary projects and site-specific, publicly-engaged practices. Amber is also the co-founder and previous co-director of The Mill Adelaide.
A respected voice within the local/national and international arts industry, she regularly consults with government on cultural immersion within existing frameworks.
Amber Cronin underwent a JUMP mentorship in 2013 with Jeff Khan (Performance Space) which was formative in her development as a producer, she was also mentored by Hannah Mathews (ACCA) in programming immersive visual arts in the development of her work 'Pantheon' 2013 (The Mill), an interactive multi-disciplinary event which was a platform for the creation and performance of nine new works within one event. New works produced for ‘Pantheon’ have gone onto second developments and programmed into festivals. Her recently produced work 'ATLAS' 2015 (The Mill) bought together an immersive dome cinema and soundscape. Amber had a background in music management and bookings before she started working in theatre, dance and visual arts and this shows through the multi-disciplinary nature of her work.
Amber’s previous role as co-director of The Mill has given her a broad knowledge of arts practice. Amber has developed innovative programs and events The Mill’s physical space and NFP arm of the company, she developed the companies public programs and artist development opportunities while managing the arts space and curating the gallery program, alongside co-founder Erin Fowler, developing a sustainable and successful business model.
Amber is a qualified yoga teacher and this informs her love of facilitation, physical awareness and self-inquiry.
Amber has a strong understanding of the creative process, working with artists in the development stages of creating new work. She has also produced and managed independent projects and events in a range of venues and across a variety of mediums including visual art, dance, film, and live art.
Amber has a strong interest in audience engagement, immersive and interactive work.
