Peter Fong is a freelance illustrator who specialises in pen work and highly detailed illustrations. Passionate about the process and the dying art of craftsmanship, he always prefers the handmade approach to doing things, and is proficient in using traditional tools - nibs and ink being a favourite.

“My skills in calligraphy and lettering have naturally evolved through using these tools and I try to incorporate this into my illustrations. I am engrossed with the process of simple mark making to create detailed illustrations, how the correct placement of lines and dots combined together can convey an image.

I enjoy the journey of exploration and finding things so I try to incorporate this element into my illustrations.

Current inspiration I draw from most are botanical and scientific illustrations found in old books and journals and cartography maps.”
