Caleena Sansbury

Caleena Sansbury is a proud First Nations artist of Ngarrindjeri, Narungga, and Kaurna heritage. A graduate of NAISDA Dance College, she is an accomplished choreographer, performer, and arts leader, with a multidisciplinary career spanning national and international stages.
Caleena has worked with acclaimed artists and companies, including Vicki Van Hout (Long Grass, Les Festivities Lubrufier), Thomas E. S. Kelly ([MIS]CONCEIVE), and Karul Projects (SSHIFT). Her work also includes children's theatre, performing in Saltbush and Our Corka Bubs (InSite Arts), and Tangled (Polyglot Theatre).
Beyond performance, Caleena has acted in a physical theatre piece The Man With The Iron Neck (Legs On the Wall), produced for Melbourne Fringe (2018), toured with Mi:wi (Taree Sansbury, 2019), and recently appeared in Gurranda (Jacob Boehme, 2024). She continues to create and perform throughout South Australia.
Caleena brings strong cultural knowledge, creative vision, and collaborative leadership. She is committed to creating spaces where Indigenous stories are shared with integrity, and where artists can explore identity and culture through movement. Her direction ensures the program remains grounded in cultural values while advancing contemporary Indigenous performance practice.
