Writer In Residence

The Writer in Residence program is focused on fostering arts writing and criticism by emerging arts writers.

The program provides two 6 month residencies per/year at The Mill in a private studio, three pieces of commissioned writing per artist and support from The Mill artistic staff and partner organisations on a personal collaborative project.

Designed to support South Australian arts writing - whether writing about contemporary art or creative writing - the Writer in Residence aims to create a broader audience for arts writing. The program strengthens the field as a whole and ensures that critical writing remains a valued mode of engaging the visual arts.

In 2019/2020 The Mill will partner with Fine Print magazine for editing and writing support and with Scotch College for an additional Writer In Residence educational program.
