WAYIN:THI

WAYIN:THI, produced by The Mill, is a First Nations dance theatre ensemble based in South Australia, grounded in culture, self-determination and performance-making.

Co-led by First Nations artists Caleena Sansbury, a Kaurna, Ngarrindjeri and Narungga woman and Kaine Sultan-Babij, an Arrernte and Gurindji man, WAYIN:THI's work is dedicated to amplifying the voices of South Australian First Nations dance and performance artists.

WAYIN:THI creates greater visibility for powerful cultural storytelling through movement and performance.

The Mill provides funding infrastructure, business and management mentorship for WAYIN:THI. Together, we continue our commitment to advocating for and mentoring First Nations artists, building on the legacy of our First Nations Dance Program.

Guided by Caleena and Kaine’s deep cultural knowledge, movement practice, and storytelling, WAYIN:THI will lead artists through collaborative creative processes towards bold new dance works and performance outcomes.

In Kaurna language, WAYIN:THI means to move or to flow.

This is movement. This is story. This is WAYIN:THI.

Reception + Venue Volunteers

Reception and Gallery Supervisor Role

Reception and Gallery Supervisors are the face of The Mill and play a key role in welcoming people to our venue.

They are the point of contact for members of the public who reach out to us (in person or via phone) and are responsible for making a positive first impression. They welcome visitors, artists and audiences into our spaces and make sure they feel well looked after.

Reception and Gallery Supervisors are also responsible for ensuring we are a great place to work and visit; helping us to keep clean, tidy, safe and professional.

Reception and Gallery Supervisors work closely with our team in completing a wide range of venue-oriented duties, in and around our spaces and alongside our artistic community.

This is a 1-3 day/PW volunteering role, please send a CV and/or short bio and list any relevant experience working in creative environments, arts organisations, galleries and or hospitality.

People volunteering can have this work count towards their CentreLink Mutual Obligation Requirements.

Applications will be assessed on arrival.
