Produced by The Mill, WAYIN:THI is a First Nations dance theatre ensemble based in South Australia, grounded in culture, self-determination and contemporary performance-making.
Co-led by First Nations artists Caleena Sansbury, a Kaurna, Ngarrindjeri and Narungga woman, and Kaine Sultan-Babij, an Arrernte and Gurindji man, WAYIN:THI is dedicated to amplifying the voices and creative practices of South Australian First Nations dance and performance artists.
Through movement, music and storytelling, WAYIN:THI creates powerful performance experiences that bring First Nations stories and perspectives to the stage.
The Mill provides funding infrastructure, business support and management mentorship, building on the legacy of its First Nations Dance Program. Together, they are committed to advocating for and supporting First Nations artists through collaborative creative processes and the development of bold new dance works.
WAYIN:THI has performed across major arts, cultural and community events, including the Ruby Awards, Adelaide Fringe, Blak Night at Carclew, Common Threads Summit, Gluttony Gala, Reconciliation SA Gala, Mourning in the Morning at Elder Park, NAIDOC Week Family Fun Day and the NAIDOC SA Gala Ball. Their first major work Fibres won Best of Dance in Week 1 of the 2026 Adelaide Fringe Weekly Awards.
