Lucinda Penn

Lucinda Penn bridges the worlds of art and design, working across expansive murals to intricate digital compositions under the name of LCND. Based on Kaurna Land in Adelaide, Australia, her work dissects the human experience in an attempt to understand it. She deconstructs life into symbolic fragments, and uses colour theory to weave interconnected tapestry-like compositions that tell stories and evoke feelings.

She is passionate about community engagement, hosting a total of 700+ people in her workshops process across 50+ murals to date, where she mentors locals to help bring her designs to life on the wall. In her studio practice, Lucinda upcycles leftover mural paint and found or discarded surfaces. Her solo exhibition ‘Handle’ at Collective Haunt Gallery (2023) featured works painted on upcycled kitchen cupboard doors, which retained their original handles and exploring themes of ‘handling’ life.

Lucinda recently painted a mural for Coles Local The Avenues exploring the essence of the local neighbourhood, (produced by Jacky Winter) and two murals at Blossom Rooftop Bar Pullman Hotel Melbourne City Centre (curated by Eddie Zammit). In 2024, she underwent an artist residency at Arteventura in Andalusia, Spain, where she painted her first international mural. After, she was invited to contribute to the iconic Teufelsberg Street Art Gallery in Berlin, and since has created self-led murals in London and Lombok. Lucinda won a Resene Total Colour Award (New Zealand, 2023) for her collaboration with 23RD ST Distillery. She won a Good Design Australia Award (2024) for her collaborative mural residency with 150 students at Woodville High School, responding to climate change themes. In 2026 she will paint a mural in Delhi with Indian youth approaching human rights topics in collaboration with NGO PRAYTeK (supported by a Carclew grant).
