We are thrilled to announce Alby T Grace and David Salter as the recipients of the 2026 Centre Stage Residencies.
The Centre Stage Residencies are presented in collaboration with Adelaide Fringe as part of their Arts Industry Collaborations program. This unique incubator program is for South Australian artists to progress a new performance work in its second or third stage of development to the next level, culminating in a season at The Mill as part of the 2027 Adelaide Fringe Festival.

Alby T Grace has been writing stories since he had a pen license. After graduating from an acting course in 2007, he founded a theatre company called Duende with other graduates, which went on to produce ten new Australian plays, many of them written by Alby. These include the acclaimed The Embryos, No Hello and Slicing and Dicing. In more recent years, he co-wrote the film Awoken with Daniel Phillips, and has written six plays commissioned by SAYARTS for young people. In 2023 he and some friends founded Zero Theatre Collective who regularly host reading nights and have developed the yet-unproduced Bois Ch@t in 2024. Proudly non binary, and a single dad, Alby’s work is funny, political, ecological and challenging.

David Salter is a South Australian based actor, musician and puppeteer whose practice focuses on surreal experimental ventriloquism.
His debut solo show Make Believe - Children's songs for Grown-Ups won Best Cabaret at the 2018 Curtain Call Awards. He co-wrote and performed the 2024 sell-out Disney-Musical-Horror-Comedy hit Distopia, returning to the Fringe again in 2025 with a sold-out season of An Evening with Dame Granny Smith, winning Best Variety. The show has toured to London, Edinburgh, and New York. David strives to make work that be enjoyed equally by a broad range of audiences, with Granny Smith being a hit for multiple generations.
