Showing and Q&A

Where: The Breakout at The Mill, 154 Angas St, Kaurna Yarta

Cost: $10 (+ booking fee)

Note: Please arrive 15 minutes early to grab a drink. This event will be 1 hour (including a Q&A).

Yaitya is the first development of dance theatre work by Keisha Barrow (Wills).

The idea for Yaitya comes from Keisha's experiences of disconnection and grief alongside the many ways we find connection, identity and belonging, particularly within Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander culture. The work will explore familial cultural identity, the return to her mob and how her Aboriginal culture has shaped the person she is today.

Keisha will be working with Kaine Sultan-Babij as artistic mentor throughout the residency, Tiarna Power as dancer/collaborator and Sascha Budimski consulting on sound design. She has also been supported by Caleena Sansbury conceiving and planning for the residency.

The showing will be followed by a short Q&A with Keisha and her collaborative team, hosted by The Mill CEO/Artistic Director Katrina Lazaroff. Audiences will have the opportunity to ask questions about the development and provide feedback about the performance.
