This residency unites national dance sectors by providing development opportunities for dance-makers across Australia. Presented in partnership with STRUT (WA), the residency aims to foster national conversations in dance through participation and exposure.
A selected South Australian dance artist will be offered a 1-week residency to develop and present a public studio showing of their work, at STRUT in Perth in 2026.
We are most interested in contemporary dance, dance theatre and physical theatre genres.
The Mill will fund the following:
$1,300 artist fee per/artist for two artists (plus 12% superannuation)
$1,071 per diems per/artist for two artists
$1,400 for accommodation
$1,200 for travel costs
$600 for video/photo documentation
STRUT Dance will offer the following:
1 week studio space at King Street Arts Centre (Dates: Nov 30th - Dec 4th, Mon - Fri 9am - 5pm)
Documentation support (organisation of video & photo documentation during time of residency)
Basic technical support such as lighting and projection equipment
Public connection through organising a studio showing for general public
A hot desk in their office at King Street Arts Centre
Sector connection through facilitating a Practice Sharing to meet and share with local arts community
An opportunity to teach STRUT’s public and professional classes (public class after hours & professional class within the residency hours)
Eligibility
A South Australian artist that has been based in South Australia for at least 6 of the last 12 months.
