We are seeking a Technical Manager and Stage Manager to work with us across the 2027 Adelaide Fringe season, from February 15 to March 21, 2027.
These dynamic gigs are best suited to well organised people with technical theatre and backstage experience, who enjoy collaborating with performers from a range of disciplines.
About the Technical Manager role:
The Technical Manager is central to The Mill‘s Adelaide Fringe venue team - working alongside our Venue Manager and Stage Manager across a busy 5-6 week contract.
The Technical Manager is responsible for managing the presentation of high-quality live performances across theatre, dance, experimental / hybrid performance, live music and cabaret.
The role is best suited to someone well organised, with solid technical theatre experience - specifically operating live shows.
It is key that the Technical Manager can work professionally across multiple shows in a single day / night - ensuring our venue meets each show's unique requirements.
The Mill pays LPA rates (Production and Support Staff Level 8) on a casual basis, with penalty rates awarded as required. Total estimated remuneration across the season is $7,000 - $8,500 + 12% superannuation.
About the Stage Manager role:
The Stage Manager is key to The Mill’s Adelaide Fringe venue team - working alongside our Venue Manager and Technical Manager across a busy 5-6 week contract.
The Stage Manager is responsible for managing artists presenting at our venue, and assisting with live production across a range of disciplines.
It is key that the Stage Manager can work professionally across multiple shows in a single day / night - ensuring our venue meets each show's unique requirements.
The Mill pays LPA rates (Production and Support Staff Level 5) on a casual basis, with penalty rates awarded as required. Total estimated remuneration across the season is $5,000 - $6,500 + 12% superannuation.

Ideal candidates for each role will have:
Availability Monday, February 15 to Sunday, March 21, 2027, up to 5 days / nights per week.
Great interpersonal skills and a good hustle.
Basic on-the-job training will be provided by The Mill for all venue staff, but familiarity with QLAB, live AUX / LX / AV operations, and solid technical theatre skills are expected for Technical Manager Role, and highly desirable for Stage Manager role.
Our 2027 Adelaide Fringe season will run Wednesday to Sunday, with an average night consisting of 3-4 shows. The Technical Manager will also work daytime hours - for technical rehearsals.
Dedicated box office / FOH staff and ushers will be provided for all shows.
